Posting full hands

Postby Patrick Phair » Fri Feb 28, 2014 3:57 pm

I have just posted about a single hand and the post is legible. I then tried to post about a different deal including all the hands and the formatting went hopelessly awry. I had simply tried making a table in Word or Excel and cutting and pasting.

Earlier posts by John include sections headed "Select: ALL" in which formatted hands can be presented. Can John or anyone else please let me know how to do this? (I can't find any help in the Board itself.) Thanks.

Lay out the hand as you like in a fixed width font using an ordinary text editor. Copy and paste the result into your post, select it and use the 'code' button to surround it with code tags. It will still look a mess in the posting window that you are typing into, but if you then look at your post with the 'preview' button you should see the hand set out neatly as you describe.

The reason this facility is called 'code' is because it was originally intented for posting computer programming code, and it has the select all button to help people who want to copy and paste the code into their programs. But it works well for skat hands too. :)

Thanks, John. I have now posted reports of a few hands which looked interesting.
