We won the bidding for 18 at one table and 20 at the other. We picked up the skat, which was
D8, C8
What contract should we play?
The outlook is bleak. It looks as though the best discard is D10, C8. We know that it is usually better to make our weaker suit trumps. So should play in hearts, even though we have more spades? Tom and I both played in hearts and lost.

As the cards lie, a spade contract also loses, but Grand makes, because the jacks split and the opponents can't get enough points in their four tricks to defeat it.
Should we really have played Grand with this, as the best chance to rescue the situation? What would you do?
